Dear Ly and Martin,
Just letting
you know all arrangements were very well executed apart from the little hiccup with the driver not picking us up in Danang.
I thought the following comments may be useful for future reference although I know everyone has different tastes etc so I
don't envy your jobs:-
- The tour guide in HCMC was fabulous and made us feel very special - on reflection I think we should have arranged something
similar in Hanoi as we feel like we didn't get to see all the sights and were hassled quite a bit by fruit vending ladies,
book sellers and cyclo and motorbike taxis to the point where even though we said many many times no thanks they became
abusive - pity this is happening as word will spread as we are only one of many who experienced this.
- Our favourite hotels were Renaissance Riverside in Saigon,
Life Resort in Hoi An and VinPearl at Nha Trang - we were happy all round but thought the Melia in Hanoi detracted from our
visit a bit because of its business nature - great breakfast though! By the way we got upgrades just about everywhere
so I don't whether that was luck or your influence but it was great.
- Really glad that we saw the Mekong only we were taken to a sort of mini zoo which had a baby black bear
in a tiny cage and it was being used for medicinal purposes (bile extraction I think). I told the guide I found this
quite distressing and would have preferred not to have seen it - I am no animal liberationist but it was upsetting for me
and I'm sure for many future western tourists.
- Loved Hue which we had not initially planned to visit and the Dragon Pearl trip including the kayaking was fantastic
- the guide was great but we felt he was almost over-servicing us and hovering a bit too much.
- Had a few problems with hotels having our booking in
my first name or Marilyn rather than surname but we sorted it out in the end.
Thanks again
for organising our great trip and I will have no hesitation and have already recommended your agency to other travelers.
Regards
Merilyn and
Steve
